“I tried to keep a rhythm but I cramped on the run. It was very hard in the head. I tried to push as much as possible but it wasn’t my best day that’s for sure, she admitted afterwards at the World Triathlon microphone. I didn’t have the best start in the swim but I felt good on the bike. I’m sad because I was really close to winning the title.”
Emma Lombardi third at just 22 years old
Long in contact with Beth Potter and Kate Waugh, the other Frenchwoman, Emma Lombardi, 22, finally finished sixth in this final but she retained her third place in the world rankings. “I’m disappointed with today’s race but I’m very happy with this overall place, it’s only my second season as a senior,” she said after the race. I will keep the positive and the podium. Next year my goal remains to go to Paris, and I will give my best. I’m going to train even harder.”
A double podium and an achievement for the two Tricolores while until now, no French woman had managed to get on this podium at the World Championships. One year before the Paris 2024 Games, and the day after Dorian Coninx’s world title among men, the French team continues to make an impression.
