The French triathlon had crossed the Channel by conquering this weekend. During the round of WTCS (the World Triathlon Championship Series) in Sunderland on Saturday, the French contingent scored two resounding doubles. Among the men, Pierre Le Corre won in the sprint ahead of Léo Bergère, reigning world champion. A few minutes later, he was imitated by his compatriot Cassandre Beaugrand, winner of the women’s race ahead of Emma Lombardi.

The Blues were able to take full advantage of the absence of several world leaders: the first five in the general classification of the World Cup had, for example, skipped this English meeting. But they also benefited from the benefit of their return from training at altitude in Font-Romeu, which generated a collective dynamic. Léonie Périault, 4th, did not go far from completing a 100% tricolor podium.

See you at the Test Event in Paris

This group shot could hardly have come at a better timing, while the Test Event, the full-scale rehearsal on the official course of the Paris 2024 triathlon, is scheduled in three weeks, from August 17 to 20.

Seven French people (four men and three women) will take part, including Vincent Luis, the double world champion, whose season has so far been hampered by injuries. At home, the delegation will necessarily display individual ambitions, since the race will distribute sesames for the Games, but also collective, in view of the coup de force carried out by the blue clan in Sunderland.
