For the Day of Courage and a holiday of the Bulgarian army, flowers were laid at the Bulgarian military memorial in Petrich Cemetery Park.

A solemn speech was delivered by the manager of the “Ritual Activity” Foundation Maria Kusimitreva. Flowers and wreaths were laid by the mayor Dimitar Bruchkov, the People’s Representative Eng. 1914″, as well as students and teachers from the 1st primary school “Kocho Mavrodiev”, the 3rd primary school “Gotse Delchev” and the secondary school “Anton Popov”.

A military monument “Bulgarian Military Cemetery – 1944” was opened in the city of Petrich 5 years ago. The memorial is located in the city’s cemetery park and was restored after a long search for documents from the State Military Historical Archive.

According to the available documentation, a total of 101 Bulgarian soldiers were buried in the Military Monument “Bulgarian Military Cemetery – 1944” for the period 1941-1944. Six of them were from the municipality of Petrich.

The funds for the repair of the war memorial were allocated by the Ministry of Defence.
