Rome, August 24 – “Last night, at 79 years old, Ottaviano Del Turco passed away. On my behalf and on behalf of our entire Organization, I express my deep condolences and closeness to his family.” This is what is stated in a note from the general secretary of Cgil, Maurizio Landini.
“He was a prominent leader of our Union – adds Landini – serving as deputy general secretary from 1983 to 1992 during a complex phase in the history of Cgil and the confederal union, where different ideas and proposals regarding union models and the relationship between unions and political forces were debated.”
“Since 1992, Ottaviano’s union commitment has concluded and – continues Landini – he dedicated his experience to roles of political and institutional responsibility. The defense of the rights of female and male workers has been at the center of his union and political experiences.”
