One of the most popular dinosaurs is Triceratops, a large quadruped herbivore endowed with a bony ruff that protected its neck and three long horns with which it defended itself against its great enemy, the Tyrannosaurus. Triceratops, which means “face with three horns”, was described in 1889 by the American paleontologist OC Marsh, although it was later learned that the first Triceratops remains discovered were a pair of horns found in 1887 and wrongly attributed to an extinct bison.
