In a dramatic turn of events, infamous rowdy Komban Jagan, who was wanted for multiple murder and robbery cases in Trichy, was killed in a police encounter. The District Superintendent of Police Varun Kumar provided details about the encounter, stating that a special force was formed to monitor the activities of anti-social elements during Diwali.

The encounter took place when the special force patrolled the Chanamangalam area and was attacked by Jagan, who was armed with a machete and homemade bombs. In self-defense, the police opened fire and Jagan was injured. Despite urgent medical treatment, Jagan succumbed to his injuries. The policemen injured in the incident are currently undergoing medical treatment.

Post the shooting, the investigation revealed that Jagan had country-made weapons and homemade bombs in his possession. It was also found that Jagan, who operated as a gang leader, had previously boasted about making similar bombs on social media platforms.

Jagan, who hails from Tiruverumpur Panayakurichi area of ​​Trichy district, had more than ten pending cases against him in various districts. The police had been on the lookout for Jagan after he escaped from a curry feast organized for his birthday, where various raiders were armed with weapons.

After receiving information that Jagan was hiding in Sanamangalam near Samayapuram on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway, the police attempted to apprehend him. However, Jagan attacked the police and was shot in the chest and abdomen, resulting in his death.

The encounter has sparked a debate about the growing menace of rowdyism in the area, with authorities and residents expressing relief at Jagan’s demise. Assistant Inspector Vinod, who was seriously injured in the attack, is currently undergoing treatment at Lalgudi Government Hospital.

The death of Komban Jagan marks the end of a notorious criminal in Trichy and a significant victory for the police in their fight against organized crime.
