This Saturday (4), São Paulo finished the U17 Paulista Championship with runner-up, after defeating Corinthians 1-0 in normal time, and 3-2 on penalties, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium. In the first game, played in Cotia, the São Paulo team won 2-1.
In the first minutes of the first half, the game was well balanced, with the teams sharing possession of the ball at all times. However, the game began to take on a different shape in the 8th minute, when the ball fell to Bernardo in midfield, who, after a dispute with the opposing player, ended up being sent off. Even with one player less, the boys from Cotia never stopped pressing and going forward when they had possession of the ball. At 20, João Pedro made a great save after a dangerous header from the opponent. Soon after, in the 21st minute, after an attempted counterattack, the referee awarded a foul in favor of the opponent close to the penalty area and the opponent scored the first goal of the match, in the 23rd minute.
In the second stage, the highlight was goalkeeper João Pedro, who made good saves, preventing the opponent from expanding the score. The best chance for Allan Barcelo’s men was in the 12th minute, after a free kick almost from the middle of the field, Guilherme Batista threw the ball into the area, which ended up being hit and almost resulting in an own goal. Another good chance was in the 19th minute, when Ryan Francisco suffered a dangerous foul very close to the penalty area and left it for Samuel to take, the player ended up shooting very hard and was unable to convert, taking the match to penalties.
On penalties, the opponent was better (3 to 2) and won the Campeonato Paulista.
