SOUTH TANGERANG – The police disclosed the condition of toddler R (4), who persecuted by his parents to death in the Rawa Buntu area, South Tangerang (Tangsel). The poor baby was burned by a cigarette and broke his hand.

“If the element of violence is there, there are indications. Physically (it looks) hit by burns, the right hand is broken. That’s why we are still waiting for the results of the autopsy, because that will explain the cause of the victim’s death, whether there is a connection between the death of the victim and the actions of the perpetrator,” said the Head of the Protection Unit. Women and Children (PPA) South Tangerang Police, Iptu Siswanto, Monday (26/06/23).

From the results of the interim examination it was found that the abuse of the victim had been going on since early June 2023. The victim’s biological mother and stepfather admitted that they were upset because R could not speak even though he was 4 years old.

“The parents were annoyed with the victim because he couldn’t speak, speech delays. In the end, he was abused by his mother’s hands, his stepfather also burned him,” he said.

Perpetrators Defined as Suspects

For their actions, the police have named a married couple named Anis and Dani as suspects in the perpetrators of child abuse until they died.

Both were charged with Article 80 of Law (UU) Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. Currently Anis and Dani are detained at the South Tangerang Police Headquarters.

Based on the information obtained, the husband and wife (couple) suspected of abusing their baby worked as scavengers every day.

Couples Anis and Dani have been working at a scavenger shop for the past 2 years. However, in the last few months, victim R was taken by his biological father to live with Anis and Dani in a semi-permanent rented house.

“The two of them have been working here for 2 years. But the child is only about 4 months old and brought here,” said the landlord, Ida (33).

Ida admitted that he was surprised if the victim was said to have suffered from maltreatment injuries before he died. Because, so far he never heard a commotion in the household

“Every day is normal, nothing happens. I go home in the morning and bring a cart, my children are also invited. But I don’t know if there are any other problems,” he explained.
