This Thursday the first direct flight from Trinidad and Tobago that has been carried out for eight years will arrive in Margarita. This was reported by the Minister for Tourism, Alí ​​Padrón, who specified that it is a shopping tourism that takes place on the occasion of the Easter holiday.

In this sense, this week there will be two direct charter flights from Trinidad and Tobago to Porlamar. Specifically, there will be two flights departing from Trinidad to the island of Margarita between April 6 and 10, and returning to Trinidad between April 10 and 14.

In this regard, the agency Hammock Travel in Trinidad confirmed that flights originating from that Caribbean island were being offered for sale.

Nadia Dookie from that agency pointed out that the Trinidadian has always liked going to Margarita to do their shopping there. Likewise, she indicated that Rutaca’s charter flight (roundtrip) from Trinidad to Margarita, at a cost of $420, has had a positive reception on the Caribbean island.

There have been no direct commercial flights from Trinidad to Venezuela for eight years. Currently, to travel to Margarita from Trinidad you must take a flight to Panama and from there to Caracas and then to Porlamar.

Margarita favorite tourist destination

The island of Margarita is one of the favorite tourist destinations to spend the season of Semana Mayor. In this sense, the president of the Chamber of Tourism of Nueva Esparta, Viviana de Vethencourt, highlighted that for this season the arrival of some 226 flights is estimated.

“The Easter season, long awaited by all neo-Spartans, is our moment to shine and to show off, which is why our businessmen have wonderful proposals for this season. We will have a good week full of activities and good things, in addition to the attractions of our islands,” Vethencourt said on a local radio program.

Regarding the number of flights expected in the island entity, he explained that the approximate data is calculated from the information provided by tour operators. “We are pleasantly surprised with that number, because last Easter we had 151 flights, that is, we are talking about a significant and very positive increase.”

He also said that flight and accommodation reservations have also been observed from April 10 to 16. “If we add those flights we would be talking about more than 330 flights.”
