We now know a little more about the terrible chain of events which led to the discovery of the bodies of three children, girls, aged 4, 10 and 11 on Sunday afternoon, in Alfortville. This Monday morning, the father of the girls followed the search of his home before responding to investigators from the Val-de-Marne judicial police about what happened, particularly during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
“The first visual observations, in particular the remains of a meal, the position of the victims and their clothing, led us to think that the events had occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday, possibly during their sleep,” explains Stéphane Hardouin , the public prosecutor of Créteil who returned to the first findings of the investigation during a press conference at the courthouse this Monday noon.
The two eldest stabbed, the youngest strangled
The day before, a 41-year-old man presented himself at the Dieppe police station (Seine-Maritime) at 2 p.m. and immediately declared having killed his three children in Alfortville. Following his placement in police custody, the Dieppe prosecutor notified the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. Immediately, a patrol with a judicial police officer went to the scene.

The officials were then confronted with “horror”, as described by someone close to the case, upon discovering the three girls, dressed in their pajamas. One of the two eldest girls lies head to toe on the bed in the only bedroom in the apartment. “She had deep chest wounds,” describes the prosecutor, who specifies that “no defense wound was observed at the time.” The other girl of around ten years old, found lying on the sofa in the living room, had defensive wounds on her hands, “suggesting the seizure of a blade”, notes the magistrate. Like her sister, she has chest wounds.
The youngest was also discovered lying on the second bed in the room. “His body could not bear any wound but his cyanotic face evoked the notion of asphyxiation,” explains Stéphane Hardouin. Emergency services tried to resuscitate her, without success.
The police will retrace the last moments of the father with his daughters
“No lesions of a sexual nature”, as described by the prosecutor, were noted. The autopsies which were carried out this Monday morning should provide new answers. Toxicological analyzes will allow us to know whether or not the father drugged his children before committing the act.

At the heart of the debates, the father’s visits to his daughters while the couple, married in July 2011, were still in the process of divorce. “In this context, visiting and accommodation rights were exercised amicably, pending a hearing before the family affairs judge scheduled for December 12,” explains Stéphane Hardouin before adding: It is also in application of this agreement that the children were at his home. »
Already convicted of violence
The father had already been sentenced to 18 months in prison, 12 of which were suspended, during immediate appearances at the Créteil court in April 2021 for, in particular, violence against a spouse and violence without incapacity by an ascendant on a minor. The probationary suspended sentence expired on August 28, 2023. “At the time of the events, the accused was therefore not the subject of any judicial follow-up,” indicates the prosecutor.
Another element, the mother’s home in Marolles-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) was visited while she was being interviewed by investigators. A parallel investigation was opened.
Furthermore, the father of the children, a Moroccan, was deported to the border in 2005. He returned to France as part of family reunification and had a resident card valid until 2025.
