A warrant related to a previous legal matter briefly detained rapper Trippie Redd as he attempted to depart the United States on Thursday, July 3. The 26-year-old artist was apprehended at Miami International Airport (MIA) while preparing to travel to Belgium for a music festival performance.
The arrest occurred after U.S. Customs and Border Protection alerted Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s deputies to an active warrant stemming from an invalid driver’s license case originating in Miami-Dade County in 2023, according to reports from WPLG Local 10 Miami. Deputies took Redd into custody at Terminal J at approximately 4:50 p.m.

Video footage of the arrest circulated on social media, showing deputies surrounding the rapper as onlookers urged them to “Relax” and identified themselves as his family. Redd was subsequently booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. Fortunately for the artist, he was released on a $150 bond.
Redd addressed the situation publicly through a comment on an Instagram post by DJ Akademiks. He downplayed the incident, stating, “Was going to pick up 600k btw 2 shows smh that’s lil tho and my bond was $150.00 lmao but the channel 6 news played my song I made $750.00 off that.”

The arrest threatened to disrupt Redd’s scheduled performance at the Les Ardentes music festival in Belgium on July 5. However, with his swift release, he is now expected to be able to fulfill his commitments.
The legal issue arrives at a complex time for the artist, following the recent birth of his daughter with fellow musician Coi Leray last month. Their rekindled romance, which began last year, proved to be short-lived, with the pair separating shortly after announcing their pregnancy. Leray has publicly accused Redd of infidelity, allegations he has not addressed. Despite the personal challenges, Leray has been sharing photos of their daughter, Miyoko, on social media.
