Civil Protection issued a National Warning this Wednesday afternoon due to the entry of a Tropical Wave that will affect the country tomorrow, Thursday, August 14.
According to the forecasts, the Tropical Wave will bring with it strong gust-type winds, moderate to intense storms with electrical activity and lightning strikes.
These atmospheric conditions could generate landslides, flooding in rivers and streams, and falling trees and billboards, warned Civil Protection.
The authorities reiterated the call to the mayors to prune or cut down those trees that, after evaluation, are a danger to citizens.
On the other hand, the municipal commissions of San Miguel, Chinameca, San Rafael Oriente, Quelepa, El Tránsito, Moncagua and San Jorge are urged to remain in constant verification during the passage of the Tropical Wave due to the landslides that may be generated by the volcano. Chaparrastique.
If necessary, evacuations should be carried out in the area preventively in those communities at highest risk, the authorities recommended in a press release.
Pedestrians are also advised to stay away from tall trees to avoid the risk of finding themselves in an electrostatic field that facilitates lightning strikes.
