Trouble for Boeing: delays in delivering a “significant number” of 737 Max planes

The aviation giant said that the installation of components in the back of the plane did not meet the regulations. “This is not an immediate safety problem or a problem with the flight,” the company said in a statement. The reason for this is that the supplier Spirit Aerosystems (Spirit Aerosystems) used a “non-standard” procedure in installing two components in the fuel compartment in some models. The manufacturing issues affect the entire 737 Max family of aircraft, including the Max 7, Max 8 and Max 8200 aircraft. “We have notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the issues and are working to conduct inspections and replace the non-compliant accessories when necessary,” they added.

The entire aviation industry is facing a shortage of planes, since the lifting of the corona restrictions that led to a surge in demand for flights. The airlines are competing for the resources to meet the high demand. Accordingly, Boeing reported an increase in deliveries of the new planes in the first three months of 2023. Many of these planes are 737 Max models purchased by American airlines Southwest and United Airlines.
