Is everything going well in financial policy at the traffic light?

Constitutional lawyers and the opposition have great doubts about the new supplementary budget! On Monday, the cabinet approved the 60 billion extra budget from Finance Minister Christian Lindner (42, FDP).

Lindner can now put the new loans, which were actually intended to combat the consequences of the Corona, into a special fund. The money is now to be used to finance traffic light plans (including climate protection, digitization).

“Coalition breaks the constitution”

▶ ︎ Constitutional expert Prof. Kyrill-Alexander Schwarz (University of Würzburg) criticizes that the Bundestag only granted the loans to cushion the consequences of the pandemic. “If the coalition now reallocates the money, it will break with the constitution,” said Schwarz.

▶ ︎ The Union is also outraged! “With the supplementary budget, the Ampel-Coalition is trying to juggle 60 billion euros past the debt brake,” said CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt. CDU expert Olav Gutting: “This booster only goes into the prices. The supplementary budget violates the Basic Law. ”
