On the morning of Tuesday, August 13, a tragic accident occurred on the Autopista Norte near the Haceb company, in the municipality of Copacabana, Antioquia.
A truck carrying a load of rum lost its brakes and triggered a chain of fatal collisions that claimed the lives of two people.
The incident occurred around 9:50 am when the truck, which had just left the warehouses of the Caldas Liquor Industry, experienced mechanical failures that caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The heavy machine launched itself without brakes onto the highway, first hitting a pickup truck and then running over a motorcyclist.
Unfortunately, both the truck driver and the motorcyclist died. at the scene of the accident, with the authorities unable to do anything to save their lives. The victims were identified shortly afterwards by local authorities, who lamented the tragic outcome.

In addition to the human tragedy, the accident also attracted attention for another reason: Two people were arrested at the scene while trying to steal part of the cargo of rum that had been scattered after the collision.The individuals were arrested by the police, who handed them over to the competent authorities to face the corresponding charges.
The road remained closed for several hours in both directions to allow Judicial Police officers from the Mobility Secretariat of Copacabana to carry out the judicial inspection. and the removal of the bodies. Traffic in the area was diverted, causing significant congestion on the highway.
Local authorities have promised a thorough investigation to determine who is responsible and prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
