A 49-year-old truck driver died after falling down a 15-meter high cliff on the Régis Bittencourt highway (BR-116) while allegedly fleeing from robbers who had attacked and chased the victim.

According to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), the owner of the truck, with license plates from Itajaí (SC), reported that on Tuesday (24) the truck driver stopped at the rest area of ​​the highway after passing through the toll booth, at km 298. He would sleep there.

The attempted robbery would have occurred at that location. The police record states that criminals broke the window next to the passenger, there was a fight and, when trying to escape, the man fell into the embankment.
The person responsible for the transport company carried out a search using the tracker after trying to contact the truck driver by cell phone this Wednesday (25), without success.

In another case, on the Presidente Dutra highway, a driver was found dead inside a truck stopped at a gas station at km 194. The man had his hands and feet tied and one of the vehicle’s windows had been broken.

The case is investigated by the Civil Police of Santa Isabel, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
