Truck with hazardous materials – overturned; Watch

A truck carrying hazardous materials overturned this morning (Sunday) on Route 6, at the Soreq Interchange heading north. The truck driver was trapped in the truck in a severe manner and in addition a leak of a dangerous substance was reported.

Four firefighting and rescue teams under the command of Rabbi Reshef Iron Hirschfeld, together with firefighting, rescue and Homer units of the Southern District under the command of Rabbi Reshef Elkana Bitton, are working in the accident.

After complex rescue operations, the truck driver was rescued and transferred to MDA for medical treatment.

At this stage, the Central District and Southern District Hazardous Materials Unit, under the command of the Central District Homer Officer, is preparing to pump the hazardous material from the damaged truck to another truck that arrived at the scene.

The police blocked traffic on Road 6 at the Sorek Interchange to the north following the accident, and a short time later Road 6 from the Sorek Interchange to the north was opened to traffic, but the ascent from Road 6 to Road 7 in a westerly direction is still blocked by Israeli police.
