Political guessing game or targeted provocation? True Fruits had bottles printed for the federal election

What: True Fruits

A smoothie producer had bottles printed with program items from the largest parties – including the AfD. The latter was sent back by the grocer Edeka. Now companies are arguing about what democracy means.

Dhe smoothie maker True Fruits knows about controversy. The Bonn company was accused of racism when it advertised a black bottle with the slogan “Our Quot Black”. Or sexism after it shot a woman’s back for a summer campaign showing a penis painted with sunscreen.

Now the company has its next small scandal – and again it is apparently a deliberate provocation. For the federal election on September 26, it printed bottles with excerpts from the programs of the largest parties: CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP, Left and AfD. According to the industry magazine “W&V”, the bottles were delivered to the usual customers, including Edeka.

The supermarket chain seems to have bothered with the AfD bottles and sent them back. “Thank you for your new delivery, true fruits smoothies. But we didn’t order the AfD bottles, they’ll go back! ”Wrote the grocer on Facebook. He also posted a photo of the bottle with the comment: “There is no space on our shelf on the right.”

More than 5000 comments appeared under the post within a day. Unsurprisingly, users are divided. Some praise “the stable posture” and the “strong action” of Edeka. However, many criticize the decision not to include the bottle in the range as being anti-democratic. “Apart from the fact that the campaign of true fruits smoothies is rather wrong, Edeka reveals a highly deficient understanding of democracy”, writes one user. “Cancel culture in its purest form”, thinks another.

In the meantime, True Fruits has reacted to Edeka. The smoothie maker posted a picture on Instagram that is strongly reminiscent of the grocer’s design. “There is no space on the shelf for political education!” It says there, underneath the bottles – including those with the AfD imprint.

“Dear Edeka, yes, we also think the AfD shit. But education is more important than embarrassing social signaling like you are trying to do here, ”comments the company. All six major parties in the Bundestag were deliberately represented so that everyone could see what the parties stand for. “But you knew that… A rogue, who thinks of populism when you take action!” In the first 18 hours, more than 8,000 people “liked” the post.

Not only are excerpts from the election programs printed on the bottles, but also false statements. The action is designed as a guessing game. So the FDP was hyped the wrong goal of wanting to abolish the statutory minimum wage. The AfD has an imaginary sentence: “The naturalization limit per year is set at 1,500 migrants.” Which statements are wrong can be found on the bottles and on the homepage.
