The former President of the United States, Donald Trump, agreed to meet with members of the FBI for a “victim interview” regarding the failed assassination attempt on July 13, federal agency officials reported on Monday (29).

FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek said the procedure Trump will participate in is “a standard interview with a victim, as we would with any other crime victim in any other circumstance.”

“We want to know your perspective on what you saw,” Rojek said.

In providing an update on the attack investigation, FBI officials said they were still unable to determine the motivations of 20-year-old assailant Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Crooks, who was shot by a Secret Service sniper after firing eight shots during a Trump campaign event for the November elections in Pennsylvania, appeared to be a “lonely” individual, it was reported. No potential partners have been identified.

FBI agents said they have already interviewed dozens of people who knew or interacted with Crooks, including family members, co-workers, former teachers, classmates and others.

“We learned that the man was very intelligent, he attended university and had a stable job,” said Rojek. “His main social circle appears to be limited to his immediate family, as we believe he had few friends and acquaintances,” he said.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before a Congressional committee last week that Crooks searched the Internet for details about the November 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald.
