Trump: “America is humiliated in Afghanistan because of Harris and Biden”

Former US President Donald Trump blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.

According to the New York Times (NYT) and USA Today on the 26th (local time), former President Trump gave a speech at the National Defense Association convention held in Detroit, Michigan on the third anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

“Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s actions and their humiliation in Afghanistan have undermined America’s credibility and respect around the world,” Trump said.

Trump claimed that the withdrawal led to Russia invading Ukraine and the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacking Israel on October 7 last year. Trump added that all of this happened because “they lost respect for America” because of the withdrawal.

Earlier, on August 26, 2021, a terrorist attack occurred at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing 13 Americans and about 170 civilians.

At the time, Vice President Harris told CNN that she was the last person in the room when President Biden made the decision to withdraw troops.

The Trump camp issued a statement regarding this, saying, “Harris has let down our military and their families,” and “Trump would never do that.”

The Harris camp also released a statement that day, saying, “We are heartbroken by their pain and loss,” and “We have tremendous pride in the strength, courage, and excellence of the U.S. military.”

“President Biden has made the courageous and right decision to end America’s longest war,” he said, adding that he “will not hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to respond to terrorism and protect our people and our country.”
