Trump announces launch of his own cryptocurrency platform

by times news cr

Donald Trump announced on Thursday the upcoming launch of a cryptocurrency platform, which it presents as an alternative to the offerings of major banks and financial institutions.

“Americans have been squeezed by big banks and financial elites for far too long,” the Republican candidate for the White House wrote on the X network and on his social network Truth Social. “It is time for us to fight back, together,” he added.

Trump did not give details about the project, called The DeFiant Ones.

Trump was unfavorable to cryptocurrencies during his presidency, calling them a “scam,” but he radically changed his position to the point of defending them.

At a major industry conference in Nashville, Tennessee, in late July, the real estate developer pledged that if elected again to the White House, he would be “the pro-innovation, pro-bitcoin president America needs.”

The Biden administration is seen as a proponent of regulating the sector.

The platform promised by Trump will be based on decentralized finance or DeFi, which allows intermediaries such as banks to be bypassed when making transactions with third parties.
