Former US President Donald Trump, who aims to return to the White House in 2024 despite being indicted by federal justice, said Friday that even a conviction would not stop his campaign.

Surrounded by business, the 77-year-old Republican favorite was asked about his reaction to the charges against him, the day after the announcement of new charges against him in the file of confidential documents.

When asked by far-right radio host John Fredericks if he would end his campaign if convicted, he said “not at all”.

“There is nothing in the Constitution that says it could (prevent me)” from campaigning, he added.

“And even the crackpots on the radical left say not at all,” he said. “These people are sick. What they are doing is absolutely horrible,” he said.

Ex-president claims former US heads of state like Barack Obama and George W. Bush ‘took documents’, falsely suggesting his predecessors behaved in the way he deserves to be charged.

“No one has gone through such a thing. It’s crazy,” he stormed.

On Thursday, federal prosecutors increased the charges against Donald Trump in the case concerning his handling of confidential documents – for which he is already charged – accusing him of having tried to delete CCTV images that were of interest to investigators.

He is also charged in connection with suspicious payments to a former porn actress, and could be in connection with the investigation into attempts to overturn his defeat in the 2020 election.

A Georgia prosecutor must also announce by September the result of an investigation into the pressure he exerted to try to alter the result of the 2020 presidential election in this southern state.
