After becoming the first president to go to court in the U.S., Donald Trump has created news by filing a case worth billions against his ex-lawyer. Trump approached the court seeking compensation of 50 crore dollars (more than 4,000 crore rupees) against Michael Cohen, who was previously Trump’s lawyer. Cohen testified before the grand jury that indicted the former president. The testimony was in a case related to paying money to a pornographic actress. Cohen testified that he arranged to pay $130,000 to pornographic actress Stormi Daniels to avoid speaking out against Trump. This is where the grand jury found guilty and Trump went to court.
This is the first time in US history that a president has been tried in a criminal case despite serving a term.
In addition to seeking damages against Cohen, the complaint also requested a jury trial. Trump, who is also a former real estate tycoon, has been in court in several cases before. It is also customary to take opponents to court.
