Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has accepted Fox News’ offer to debate Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. It will take place on September 4, Trump wrote late Friday in a post on the Truth Social social network.

“The rules will be similar to the rules of my debate with Sleepy Joe (Sleepy Joe), who is treated horribly by his party, but with a full arena,” Trump said. He was alluding to President Joe Biden, who has since given up another candidacy.

Trump’s post was removed for several minutes, but then reappeared, according to Reuters. Trump, meanwhile, deleted his proposal for a “big” meeting with citizens on the same date if Harris was “not willing or able to debate.”

Harris said last month she was “ready” when Fox News suggested a September 17 presidential debate between the two candidates.

When Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris on July 21, Trump said he would not debate her because she was not an official candidate. As evidence of her lack of support, he added that former President Barack Obama has not yet endorsed her. He did so a day later. On Friday this week, Harris secured the delegate votes needed to win the Democratic nomination.
