ABC “There is no basis for the rumor that he ate the dog”

On the 10th (local time), Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made absurd remarks during a TV debate, such as “abortion is possible after birth” and “immigrants ate their pets.” Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is being criticized for exaggerating the number of jobs created by the Joe Biden administration, under which she served as vice president.
Trump said on that day, “Harris said it’s absolutely okay to have an abortion at 9 months,” adding, “That’s an ‘execution’ after birth. It’s no longer an abortion once the baby is born.” He claimed that Minnesota, where Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz is the governor, allows abortion regardless of the number of months of pregnancy, and that this is an “execution after birth.” Then, ABC anchor Lindsey Davis, who was moderating the debate, immediately corrected herself, saying, “There is no state where it is legal to kill a baby after birth.” The New York Times also reported that as of 2022, there have been no cases of abortions of fetuses 7 to 9 months pregnant in Minnesota.
Trump claimed that “illegal immigrants are eating cats and dogs owned by Americans.” He mentioned a rumor on social media that a cat was found to have been eaten by a human in a house in Springfield, Ohio, where a legal immigrant from Haiti lived. In response, another debate moderator, David Muir, said, “ABC News has reached out to local officials and there is no credible evidence for this claim.”
Harris said she had created “800,000 manufacturing jobs during her time as vice president.” However, a CBS analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that since the Biden administration took office in January 2021, only about 739,000 manufacturing jobs have been created in the United States as of last month.
