During a reception in his Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump he returned to insult journalists by calling them “bastard cheaters” and the Chief of the Joint Staff, General Mark Milley, defined “a damned idiot”. The former president’s colorful utterances took place at the Turning Point USA event, a group of young conservatives that was streamed by far-right blogger and provocateur Jack Posobiec.
“This country is in a very important and dangerous situation,” said Trump, who dusted off the usual baseless allegations of electoral fraud that would have led to his defeat in November 2020. Accusations peppered with the usual attacks on the media, “fake news” , once again branded as “the enemy of the people”.
“We don’t have a press, because the press is corrupt – he said – if there is positive news about us, positive news about anyone who is Republican, conservative, they make it a negative story”.
