US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced that he will participate in three debates in September with his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris. Major news agencies have reported the news.
Speaking at a press conference held at his Mar a Lago estate in Florida, Trump urged Harris’ team to accept the debate offer.
Trump has scheduled debates on September 4th, 10th, and 25th with three different American media outlets. Both Trump and Harris have confirmed their participation in a campaign debate on ABC television, which will take place on September 10th. Other outlets involved are Fox, NBC, and CBS.
Trump elaborated that he has reached agreements with Fox Television, NBC Television, and ABC Television for the debates. However, a subsequent clarification from the Trump campaign stated that the September 10th debate will be aired on ABC, and the September 25th debate will be on NBC.
Trump also mentioned that CBS will be hosting the debates between the vice presidential candidates.
During the press conference, Trump assured the public that there would be a peaceful transition of power in the US, provided the election is fair. He echoed this sentiment, without explicitly referencing the January 6th Capitol riot, and expressed hope for a fair election.
Trump also downplayed the significance of the abortion issue in the upcoming election.
The Republican candidate also promised a strong and respectful relationship with China, but emphasized that this would depend on China respecting the US.
