The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has circulated a fake video of former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on social media. The eight-second video, described as “Netanyahu humiliated in the US,” shows Trump seemingly disparaging the Israeli prime minister by getting distracted during their conversation.

However, observers quickly determined that the video was filmed in 2017 and had been edited to create a false impression. Journalist Yashar Ali on Platform X noted that the original video included scenes of Trump and Netanyahu shaking hands at both the beginning and end of the meeting. These scenes were deliberately removed from the edited version.

The video was released on Friday, ahead of Netanyahu’s visit to Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Ali stressed: “Even without these handshakes, it’s still strange that Trump left like this,” adding that the current political situation and the relationship between Trump and Netanyahu can be unpredictable.

The video originally appeared on three major X accounts, including “SprinterFamily,” which has more than 550,000 followers and has garnered over 230,000 views. The video also received a “context” note explaining that the original had been edited to remove scenes of handshakes.

The other two accounts that shared the video before IRNA’s official release were Johnny Vedmore and an account parodying Netanyahu. The situation continues to evolve, attracting the attention of both political observers and the general public.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that Netanyahu gave Trump an unusual gift.
