Two months before the US presidential elections, the book Save America by one of the candidates Donald Trump is published. It is a photo book in which the former president attached a comment to each picture. The NBC television station published several excerpts.

In the book, Trump does not spare criticism or sarcasm, but he has praise and appreciation for some politicians. He wrote about a picture of him standing with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un at the historic summit in Singapore in 2018: “We got to know each other very well in a short period of time. (…) The talks were honest, direct and productive.”

Trump met with Kim one more time, a year later in Hanoi, but it did not bring a breakthrough in relations between the two countries. At a pre-election rally in July, the former US president said to Kim: “I think he misses me.”

Below a photo with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin is this text: “Vladimir is a strong leader. But we understood each other and got along well.” Trump also claims in the book that if he were president, Russia would not have attacked Ukraine in 2022.

Although Trump is far more critical of China than he is of Russia and North Korea, the book Save America, which comes out on Tuesday, doesn’t make it seem that way. He captioned a photo with Chinese leader Xi Jinping: “I have a great relationship with China.”

He accused Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg of trying to prevent him from running for re-election in 2020, when he lost to incumbent Joe Biden. “We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal, he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Just like anyone else who cheats in the 2024 presidential election,” the former president captioned a photo of himself talking to Zuckerberg in the Oval Office of the White House.

The book’s cover features a photo of Trump shortly after he was assassinated in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. Readers will also find the picture inside the book. “There was blood everywhere, but I still felt safe because God was on my side,” the former president said of the photo. According to the AP agency, the book costs $99 (about 2,300 crowns) in American stores, and you can also buy it with the author’s signature for $499 (roughly 11,600 crowns).

Trump is not doing well in the polls ahead of the November 5 presidential election, in which he will face off against Biden’s vice president, Kamala Harris. An Ipsos and Reuters poll from September 1 gives Harris a lead of four percentage points (45 to 41). The Democratic candidate is also doing well in polls in seven key states that will decide the outcome. He has leads in Michigan and Pennsylvania. The pair will face each other for the first time in a televised debate next Tuesday.
