Former US President Donald Trump, even before the final count of votes in the primaries in Georgia, Washington, Mississippi and Hawaii, collected a sufficient number of delegates to secure the nomination for the presidential election from the Republican Party.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, CNN reports this.

Taking into account the results of the primaries and caucuses, Trump has already secured the support of 1,219 delegates to the upcoming party convention, with the required minimum of 1,215.

Previously, President Joe Biden exceeded the minimum threshold for the required number of delegates to the Democratic Convention.

Thus, Biden and Trump could end the primaries early, almost three months before their official end date of June 4. However, the official announcement of the former and current heads of state as presidential candidates will occur only at the conventions of the Democratic and Republican parties, which will take place in the summer.

The US presidential elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024.
