The United States Department of Justice has released a “redacted” version, or with some passages obscured, of the legal document (the affidavit) that on August 8 allowed the FBI to seize confidential government documents from Mar-a-Lago , the Florida residence of former President Donald Trump. The spread of the search warrant was authorized by Bruce Reinhart, the judge who approved it. “The government is conducting a criminal investigation into the improper removal and storage of confidential information in unauthorized spaces, as well as the illegal concealment or removal of government documents,” is the beginning of the 38 pages of the text. The FBI took away from Mar-a-Lago more than twenty boxes containing eleven sets of classified government documents, some of which are labeled “top secret”. Reinhart said the Justice Department has compelling reasons to keep certain passages of the document secret in light of the need to protect the identities of the witnesses and federal agents involved, as well as the investigation and strategy of the government and the material available to the grand jury. .
