/ Former US President Donald Trump welcomed the rejection of the immigration bill, saying that if he is re-elected president, he will lead a massive “deportation operation” from his first day in office.

The billionaire used all his influence with Republican members of Congress to block the text, thus depriving President Joe Biden, whom he is likely to face in the November elections, of the opportunity to achieve a victory on the sensitive issue of immigration.

“Let’s not forget that this week we also had a huge victory that all conservatives should celebrate,” Trump said at a rally in South Carolina. “We crushed the disastrous project of this con man Joe Biden. The entire group did a fantastic job in Congress. We crushed him.”

Under pressure from Trump, Republican lawmakers appear to have decided to block any immigration reform before the presidential election.

The former president built his popularity during his first successful campaign by promising to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, and said Saturday that deporting immigrants would be one of his priorities.

“From day one, I will end all open borders policies of the Biden administration and launch the largest national deportation operation in US history. We have no choice,” he added.

In addition to immigration reform, the deal that has stalled in Congress included additional aid to Ukraine and Israel.
