Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s team believes that foreign hackers who attacked his campaign headquarters were able to steal several documents related to financial matters.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to TASS, the newspaper The Washington Post (WP) reported with reference to anonymous sources.

According to them, none of the allegedly stolen documents were “highly classified.” According to Trump’s campaign, Iranian hackers could have been behind the cyberattack, intending to pass the documents on to various media outlets. The publication notes that this version has not yet received any confirmation. According to WP, the victims of the cyberattack were Trump’s associate Roger Stone, as well as advisers to US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on the election campaign.

On August 12, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed to TASS that it was investigating a cyberattack allegedly carried out by Iran on Trump’s campaign headquarters. However, earlier, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that she was “not prepared to comment on the veracity of the allegations of Iran’s involvement” in the cyberattack.

Earlier, Politico reported that Trump’s campaign had been subjected to a cyberattack by foreign hackers. According to the Republican’s team, foreign hackers “hostile to the United States” gained unauthorized access to the campaign’s internal correspondence.
