In a press conference, the Plenary of magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), made official the results of the second electoral round, where the pairing of the Movimiento Semilla party, made up of Bernardo Arévalo and Karin Herrera, were elected as President and Vice President of Guatemala for the period 2024-2028.

Through Agreement 1659-2023, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal will make official the results of the August 20 election, where 2.4 million Guatemalans voted for the Seed binomial, who obtained 60% of the valid votes.
The presiding magistrate of the TSE, Irma Palencia, pointed out that the citizens decided the election at the polls and today, the plenary session is making it official, “as a guarantee of the voice expressed by the citizens and it is a guarantee of democracy.”
SEED SUSPENSION
This Monday it emerged that the Registry of Citizens of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) provisionally suspended the legal status of the Movimiento Semilla party. This suspension was known prior to the magistrates making official the electoral results of August 20.
Regarding the resolution of the Registry of Citizens, the magistrates indicated that they have no official knowledge, since they were in a meeting and found out only through unofficial channels, for which reason they preferred not to address the issue, until they had full knowledge.
