TSMC is weathering the storm of slumping consumption in the West relatively well, and its revenues aren’t suffering as much as other chip companies, but they are still suffering. During Q2 2023, the company entered $15.68 billion with profits of $5.84 billion. That represents a drop in revenue of 13.7%, given that many orders have been canceled and that its factories are no longer almost 100 percent in use as they were between mid-2021 and early 2022.

Most of the revenue comes from the 5nm process which accounted for 30%, followed by the 7nm process with 23%, 16nm and 28nm 11% respectively, 40/45/65nm 7% each, and the rest comes from more mature or specific nodes, such as 20nm which accounts for only 1% of revenue. By platform, 44% of revenue comes from chips for high-performance computing companies, while 33% comes from companies in the smartphone industry.
