Tsokos no longer head of Charité forensic medicine

by time news

The pathologist Michael Tsokos no longer heads the forensic medicine department at Berlin’s Charité university hospital. The professor had already asked in the summer “at his own request and for personal reasons” to be able to end his contract at the end of 2023, the Charité said on Wednesday upon request.

“He resigned from his management role on December 31st.” According to the clinic, Tsokos will remain as a visiting scientist. Previously it had “Bild” newspaper [Bezahlschranke] reported about it.

Tsokos is quoted in the “Bild” report as saying that after the death of his parents last spring, he decided to change some things in his life and set new priorities. He will therefore retain his position as director of the Berlin State Institute for Forensic and Social Medicine. Tsokos took over Berlin forensic medicine in 2007 at the age of 39. He is also known, among other things, as a book author and through television appearances.

According to the hospital, Lars Oesterhelweg will take over the interim management of the traditional Charité forensic medicine department.
