The biggest chess event in Bulgaria – the international accelerated chess and blitz tournament “Open Shumen” ended today. The closing ceremony was held in the “Arena Shumen” hall, where the tournament itself took place.

Tsvetan Stoyanov ranked first in accelerated chess with 9 points, followed by Kiril Georgiev and Vyacheslav Tilicheev with 8.5 points. Ivaylo Enchev took fourth place, and Valentin Pankbuchiyan again with 8.5 points. In sixth place is Momchil Nikolov with 8 points.

The top three in the blitz tournament: Martin Petrov, Valentin Miten and Kiril Georgiev, who finished the tournament with 9 points out of 11 each, followed by Vyacheslav Tilicheev, Tsvetan Stoyanov and Lachezar Yordanov.

“Open Shumen” for another year attracted over 200 Bulgarian and international participants in the accelerated chess tournament and over 160 in the blitz tournament – to test their strength at the prestigious competition in the city of Shumen.

“We thank everyone who chose to participate in this tournament, as well as for the good feedback you shared with us. It was a pleasure for us to be the hosts and once again to strengthen the leading position of Shumen in Bulgarian chess. Our goal is to position our city as the chess capital of Bulgaria. With your active participation in the game, good words, it will not be difficult for us to achieve it! See you again!”.

Director Atanas Dimitrov closed the International Chess Tournament with these words.
