TT Club awards APM Terminals with the Innovation in Security award

The APM Terminals ship inspection application, designed to improve the safety in the work environment of stevedores and terminal staff, has been awarded by TT Club with the TT Innovation in Safety Awards.

Thanks to this tool, developed by the operator in collaboration with Maersk, it has been updated this month with new functions to optimize operator safety. It is an application that allows inspectors, through a standardized eight-step procedure, to have systematic, comparable and traceable results.

With the help of the app, inspectors can check that the gangway is safe before boarding a ship. Also, it is easier to inspect all necessary work areas and problems are resolved before operations begin.

Another benefit of the app is that it again indicates the incidents that have occurred previously, and has a scalable scoring system from one to four that provides a rating of its severity. By digitizing the inspection process, major issues are consistently flagged across all ships and terminals.

Apart from having effective tools for the port sector, it is worth mentioning that APM Terminals Algeciras (Spain) has broken a new productivity record on February 22, through the operations of the Mayview Maersk ship with 201.63 movements per hour . The figure has exceeded 200 movements per hour, with the help of 8 operational ship-to-shore cranes, and during a stay of the ship in port of 14.51 hours, compared to the target of 18.52.
