Chelsea lost today (Sunday) 4:0 to Arsenal in a warm-up game. The Blues are struggling to impress so far in preparation, and were actually defeated in the first game against a European team. Before that they were dragged to penalties against Charlotte from the MLS.
At the end, the team coach Thomas Tuchel Sounding more pessimistic than ever: “I can’t guarantee that we’ll be ready for next season. We have a lot of quality players, we signed two of them, but we’re not competitive enough. Unfortunately, you saw that today.”
“These are the same players from last season, why have things changed?” Tochel continued. “We will continue to develop, but there are the same problems because there are the same players. We were not at Arsenal’s level physically or mentally, we have many players who want to leave and are thinking about their options.”
“I feel that we lowered the intensity, but not in a way that is an excuse. We played very badly, the energy level fell,” Tuchel continued. Chelsea recently received bad news for themselves with the apparent choice of Jules Conde in Barcelona.
The Blues signed Raheem Sterling and Claido Koulibaly in the summer, and loaned Romelu Lukaku to Inter. Besides him, Antonio Rudiger and Anders Christensen also left the Londoners.
