Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has openly criticized the leadership at the conservative media giant, accusing them of being “fearful women.” Carlson, who was fired by Fox earlier this year, made these comments during the latest episode of his video show on X, formerly known as Twitter.
While acknowledging that Rupert Murdoch and his family were always supportive of him, Carlson claimed that the network’s leadership often displayed narrow-mindedness. “It’s a company run by fearful women, you know what I mean?” he stated.
Despite his criticism, Carlson also emphasized that he faced no direct pressure from Fox regarding the topics he could discuss during his time with the network. He holds no ill will towards Fox, as he remains under contract with them.
Carlson’s departure from Fox News came in April, shortly after the network reached a settlement of $787 million with Dominion Voting Systems. The settlement was the result of defamation claims against Fox stemming from false statements made on air regarding Dominion’s software. Internal messages from Carlson, which were revealed as part of the Dominion litigation, reportedly showed him expressing his dissatisfaction with how Fox covered the fallout of the 2020 election and belittling female leadership at the network.
Adding fuel to the fire, watchdog organization Media Matters for America later leaked unaired footage of Carlson making sexist comments during his time on the set of his Fox show.
Recently, Carlson conducted a wide-ranging interview with former President Donald Trump. Interestingly, Trump had refused to participate in the first Republican primary debate, citing a “hostile” relationship with Fox.
