# Arizona Launches New Cybersecurity Initiative with Pima Community College Partnership
Arizona is bolstering its defenses against escalating cyber threats through a new collaboration between Pima Community College (PCC) adn the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS). The partnership, set to be formally announced on october 23, will introduce the Cybersecurity Talent Ready AZ Initiative and establish Arizona’s first Regional Security Operations Center (RSOC) based at a community college.

The initiative aims to address the critical shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals while simultaneously strengthening the state’s infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated attacks. According to a statement released by PCC, the partnership reinforces a “shared commitment to preparing students for the high-demand cybersecurity workforce.” The RSOC will serve as a hub for real-time cyber threat monitoring and provide invaluable workforce training opportunities.

Pima Community College has demonstrated a strong commitment to cybersecurity education, nearly doubling its IT and cybersecurity program enrollment since 2020. This growth is further validated by the U.S. National Security agency’s recognition of PCC as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.This designation underscores the quality and relevance of the college’s cybersecurity curriculum.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs will lead the announcement, joined by Dr. Kimberly O’Connor, Director of AZDOHS; Ryan Murray, Deputy Director and State Chief Information Security Officer; tucson Mayor Regina Romero; and leaders from Pima Community College.
