The big screen work by director Sammaria Sari Simanjuntak is scheduled to be shown in cinema networks starting September 26.

Tulang Belulang Tulang stars Atiqah Hasiholan (Mami Laterina), Tasha Siahaan (Cian), Tanta Ginting (Tulang Ucok), David Saragih (Papi Mondo), Cornel Nadeak (Alon), Lina ‘Mak Gondut’ Marpaung (Opung Tiolin) and Landung Simatupang (Old Bones).

Interestingly, all of the cast also have North Sumatran blood.

In addition to the cast, the film crew is also dominated by female filmmakers of North Sumatran descent. Among them, director and co-writer Sammaria Sari Simanjuntak, co-writer Lies Nanci Supangkat, cinematographer Anggi Frisca, assistant director Eigi Pohan, and make-up artist Stella Gracia.

Furthermore, assistant director Genhart Manullang and VFX Artist Erickson Siregar are also of North Sumatran descent.

Tulang Belulang Tulang tells the story of a family who will carry out the Mangokal Holi ceremony (transfer of ancestral bones), which is a source of pride for Batak families who are able to carry it out.

Unfortunately, the suitcase containing the bones of Tulang Tua (Great Grandfather) is lost. Everyone must immediately find the bones if they do not want to be cursed by Opung (Grandmother) and the entire extended family who have been waiting ready to party on the shores of Lake Toba.
