by times news cr

The Public Prosecution Office at the Siliana Court, northwest of Tunisia, has allowed “the issuance of 5 prison warrants against presidential candidate Ayachi Zemal in the case of forging endorsements.”

Lawyer Abdel Sattar Al-Masoudi, a member of the defense team for “Al-Ayachi Zamal”, confirmed that “5 prison deposit cards were issued by the Public Prosecution Office at the Siliana Primary Court against their client, the presidential candidate.”

According to Radio Mosaique, Al-Masoudi added that “a trial session was set for Thursday, September 12, after a session at the Jendouba Court of First Instance on Wednesday, September 11, on charges of ‘the crime of forging a document’ (forgery).”

It is noteworthy that “Ayachi Zamal” was arrested shortly after his release from “Borj Al Amri” prison on September 5, on suspicion of his involvement in forging popular endorsements.

Yesterday, Monday, the Independent High Authority for Elections in Tunisia rejected rulings issued by the Administrative Court regarding the return of 3 candidates to the presidential race.

In defiance of the administrative court’s decision, the electoral commission only approved the candidacy of Saied and two other candidates, Zouhair Maghzaoui and Ayachi Zemal, while the head of the Independent High Authority for Elections, Farouk Bouasker, said that “the commission is the only body constitutionally authorized to guarantee the integrity of the elections.”
