Presidential elections will be held in Tunisia on October 6, according to what was announced on Tuesday evening by President Kais Saied, who leads the country from 2019 for a five-year term that is about to expire.

The Tunisian Presidency said in a statement: “The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, issued an order inviting voters to the presidential elections on Sunday, October 6, 2024.”
Saeed did not clarify whether he intends to run for a second term in these elections or not.
Saied is a constitutional expert who was democratically elected in October 2019 as President of the Republic.
In the summer of the following year, Tunisian voters in a general referendum approved a draft of a new constitution for the country drafted by Said, which laid the foundation for a new system based on two chambers: the People’s Representative Assembly and the National Committee. Council of Regions and Areas.
As a result of this constitutional amendment, Tunisia transitioned from a parliamentary system of government to a fully presidential system.
