The Tunisian Ahmed Hafnaoui became, this Wednesday, July 26, world champion in the 800m freestyle in Fukuoka (Japan). Hafnaoui, silver in the 400m in Japan, won in 7 minutes and 37 seconds after an extremely tight race during which he battled alongside German Lukas Mertens (5th) and Australian Samuel Short , crowned him on the 400 three days earlier. Finally he won ahead of the Australian, second, and the reigning world champion Bobby Finke, in bronze this time.
