The Attorney General’s Office announced the death of a Tunisian national who resisted security forces while arresting him during a raid on a weapons and bombs cache on the western Libyan border.

The office stated in a statement that the Public Prosecution Office received the investigation procedures regarding the circumstances surrounding the prosecution of two Tunisians for possessing weapons and hand grenades, one of which resorted to using them when he was arrested.

The office indicated that the Stability Support Apparatus, Nalut branch, received information related to a concealed activity carried out by two Tunisian nationals in the western Libyan border area. One of them turned himself in to the arrest officers and explained to them the activity of his companion and the reasons for his possession of weapons and explosives hidden in a place far from residential areas.

Following this, the police officers, with the support of the Deterrence Unit to Combat Terrorism and Organized Crime, found the other suspect armed when the place where he was located was raided to impose an arrest measure. He resorted to using weapons to resist the public authorities, which led to his death.

The investigator then proceeded to examine the scene of the incident, then examined the body of the deceased, and began investigating the incident attributed to the other arrested person.
