The President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, announced on Monday the dismissal of two of his ministers, weeks after he dismissed the head of the Commerce portfolio.
The Tunisian Presidency office has indicated that the affected ministries are those of Education and Agriculture, although it has not given more details about the reason for this decision, indicating that “Saied decided to make a partial change of the Government,” according to a statement.
In this sense, Mohamed Ali Boughdiri will be the new Minister of Education, replacing Fathi al Salouti. In addition, the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Mahmoud Elias Hamza, leaves the position, which will be held from now on by Abdel Moneim Balaati.
Al Boughdiri is a former leader of the Tunis General Labor Union, where he previously held the position of deputy general secretary, Mosaique FM radio station has reported.
For his part, Balaati was commander of several air forces in the country and general inspector of the Armed Forces in 2017, the aforementioned station collects.
Earlier this month, Saied dismissed Commerce Minister Fadila al Rabhi, the first member of Prime Minister Najla Bouden’s Executive to have been removed; and Fakher Fakhfakh, governor of Sfax, in the east of the country, located at a common point of migratory routes.
Tunisia is going through a severe economic crisis characterized in part by shortages of supplies, as well as rising inflation.
