WI haven’t come for a while, I had walked about a kilometer uphill from the inn, two cars had already sped past when the third, a small car, braked. The driver made hand signals, pointed at me and then towards the pass. I said yes, the door popped open and I saved myself the remaining distance on asphalt. It was a taxi, the elderly gentleman was on his way back to Himara, he had removed the sign but I noticed the taximeter: taxis that take you incognito because they are going in the same direction, that only exists in Albania.
Closer to Corfu than Tirana
Everyone still has to go over the Llogara Pass, everyone who wants to cross the Ceraunian mountains and get to the southern coast: the vans, the minibuses and the private cars. During the short summer season, the sheet metal avalanche flows tenaciously and without ceasing, but now in winter the road meanders lonely through the national park – up to over 1000 meters, up to the pass.
