Indian Bengali film actor and BJP leader Rudranil Ghosh was arrested by the police for taking to the streets to protest against the RG tax case in Kolkata. On Friday (August 16), he was arrested by the Lalbazar Police Station from Kolkata’s Shyambazar intersection.
Hindustan Times reported in a report that on Friday, BJP leaders including Rudranil appeared at Shyambazar intersection to protest against the RG tax case. Police broke their stage before they could sit in the symbolic position. BJP leaders Agnimitra Pal and Rupa Ganguly were also present on the occasion. They raised their voices against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state government. They quarreled with the police for a long time. Then Rudranil Ghosh was arrested.
Rudranil Ghosh joined the police prison van to protest the incident. At the time, he said, ‘First, the platform of Bharatiya Janata Party was demolished from Shyambazar. Rudranil Ghosh urged everyone to take to the streets and said, ‘Today the protest is on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party. And we protested on behalf of the cultural cell. We were beaten and arrested on the pretext that there was a jam on the road. This is being taken to Lalbazar. I will tell everyone, come down the street. They will not leave anyone. They will kill everyone.’
Throwing questions, Rudranil Ghosh said, ‘When a girl was killed and an attempt was made to steal the evidence, there were not so many policemen on the streets; As many policemen have come to the streets to shut people’s mouths. Many mothers and sisters were arrested after 12 midnight on August 14. How many places are there in Lalbazar? All the people of West Bengal will take to the streets now, how many people will be burnt in jail by the corrupt Chief Minister, Health Minister, Police Minister?’
