Meanwhile, satellite images revealed hundreds of emergency camps set up in open areas and stadiums to aid relief efforts.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that 23 million people may be affected by the earthquake, and 77 national and 13 international emergency medical teams have been deployed in the affected areas.
